Funny how quite a few of us - you, me, even maybe Pete Juxta have gone all arty?
I have with digitaldebris, doing performance and spoken word stuff mixed in with music and fuck-off-weird music, you're pushing Saturday night into new territory with the stories and sketches and also the odder side of music, and Pete is doing breakcore and toy-pop...:-D
You almost played no mashups in that show...and it's better for it.
Tis the future! FUCK MASHUPS LET'S ART!!!!

Some great stuff here. Actually found myself more keen to hear the little short stories than the accompanying music at times. Agree that the mashup-lite show was refreshing!
Thought the Mental health hotline was genius. I'd love to know who wrote that sketch (oops almost wrote vignette there).
tHE TRACKS ARE F-ING ACE!!!!! I found myself rewinding many of them to hear them again -- quite the eclectic mix -- LOVE THIS! And, as an English teacher, I can say your short stories have all the conventions of a good text, and are funny as fuck!

LOL
Just for the record, I'd like to say that I'd lined up my next Skip to the End guest before being accused of going arty.
But I will be doing a Douglas Adams themed show in the future called Artyfartcast.
Actually despite the lack of mashups in these shows (which should also include Osymyso's Milk Run stuff) maybe we should be refering to them as Mashcasts. No scrap that - sounds worse than Trip Hop.
As to the Whoboys show, surely it's the age old arguement - is it art or simply filth? Either way all of these are great and I'm honoured to be mentioned in the same sentence.
Pete

Filth? FILTH?
I'll have you know the Who Boys are all highly moral individuals! If the stories sound filthy it's because we're just reflecting, erm, society, an that. And stuff. I'll bet you just looked at the titles without listening to the show. Yeh, that's probably it.

Yeah, that and judging from previous performances.

I mean to say, we've been boisterous in the past, yes, but filthy? I'm confused now.

Ah man, the song's not really about wanking in itself, it's about desperately lonely fantasy and the circumstances that engender it. I mean, wanking comes into it, as it would. But then, wanking's not really filthy is it? I admit we may have called it Wanking to get more people to download it. I reckon you could accuse us of attempting cheap sensationalism quite fairly, but we're not really filthy, not in the true sense of the word. and this (and the previous) show is an attempt to use the podcast format to be try to be creative, beyond the choice and order of tracks and banter. Christ, the Stella's kicking in.
