I was hoping to do a WoBcast this week, but Lumpy and Herring are busy so I did this instead. Click da pic for the mix.
I've been waiting ages for the Venetian Snares Sabbath dub release, so now it's finally out I thought I'd base a mix around it.
As usual for me this is a bit rough round the edges mainly because this is a live mix with little post production. It's also a bit heavy, though it has a lighter finish.
Tracklist (35min mix):
Si Begg - Bangin
Venetian Snares - Electric Funeral
Daisuke Tanabe - Model
Kode 9 - Sine of the Dub
Gregory Isaacs - Gone a Jail (DJ C Mix)
Microphyst - I Love Lily Allen
Boxcutter - Chiral
Venetian Snares - Black Sabbath
Sledgehead Bristol - Sunshine Brown
Hope you like it,
Pete

i'm listening to this now - so you can get at least one feedback - albeit from someone who could realistically pop round the house and give it to you in person rather than post it on the interweb. maybe it'll start a wave, nay a flood.
Great bass drum and interesting slow tempo from your usual tastes. Looking forward to R&B mastercuts comp. mixed by juxt. i have the back door open and am now worrying about the neighbours hearing the muthaf*&^%$s lyrics.
ozzy - prefer sharon myself and that lovely jack bloke - climbs the avon gorge don't you know, friends with some people in southville - yes round each others houses all the time - probably owns southville. bassy. may want an mp3 of that. i expected kraftwerk. shes a model and shes looking good, but no, its a bit midnight over europe, maybe just past teatime over europe. too many maths connotations in the title - less in the song. i wish i could fly - bootleg with orville would be awesome with this one. definitely more orville than prince.
dj c - love him - no - too much of a purist - luckily st pauls carnival is every other year or i'd be isaaced out. i love lily allen. yes i do. maybe she'll answer my pleading emails. i like her eye makeup. boxcutter sounds like hes nicked the title from orbital. listening. maybe it is orbital. dark and mazey - not ij a takeshis castle way - too quick and frivolous - more lord bath at night. more oz. the synths are so lush it makes 4 hero seem tinny. this is also too awesome for wurds. i'm a venetian snares fan now - tho they tell me his concerts are just him with a 50w practice amp playing slap bass on a squire jazzmaster. crap basically. yes yes this is the best metal i've heard and i hate HATE metal. didn't like tha last one. actually its growing on me- obviously i recognise the tune. ok - thats my stint - good stuff not my usual listen and phoebe doesn't like it. but ok
A great listen with a fine ominous feel. When you released with the mellow vocal track at the end,it really drove home what an intense play it had been.
All the selections were great with si,venetians & boxcutter as my faves. I really like all that electro texture.
Thanks much!
Thanks all.
I will point out that a few of the tracks have made appearances on WoBcasts in the past, even the second Venetian Snares one, so it's almost a best of WoBcast dub.
I'll have to think of a mix that Phoebe will like. Maybe my G'Abba project.
Pete
