When using torrents I rely on windows firewall to keep me safe and secure but when I do bit tornado keeps it status as "Yellow". I have tried various things, I have checked to make sure that the actual ports on the client are right and they are, windows firewall doesn't seem to be blocking it at all...its pissing me off majorly!
It means that it can take days to get something that would only take a few hours, for example i'm currently downloading a file that is 484.44mb and its going to take approx 8 an half hours. It has 1 seed and 1 peer and downloading at 14kb/s. I'm on Broadband Size: L with virgin which is upto 4mb and no download limits so it shouldnt be taking that long really to get an 18 track album!
This is how my internet works...in excellent pic form
People on the net at various sites have told others with the same problem to change various things in their router but I dont really wanna mess with stuff in there incase i screw it up and the missus cant get online.....so can people help me get this sorted?

A couple of points - if there's only one person seeding the file you're downloading, then you're going to be limited to how fast they are able to upload from their end.
Also, re: Virgin - you say no download limits - you do realise that your connection is traffic managed between 4pm and midnight if you go over the extremely meagre maximum download limit they've set? This could be partially accounting for your slow speeds
For one seeder/peer,that sounds almost correct.
Torrents are a risky prospect on a pc,I use a mac & have still been at least frozen & had to re-start.

"Welcome to isoHunt. This site is home to the most comprehensive BitTorrent search engine, with cross-referenced trackers data you can't find anywhere else. Along with integrated XDCC, Fserve and NFO search for files on IRC (currently offline). In short, this is your all-in-one P2P files search engine. Try searching in the form above, or browse around the Zeitgeist for what's hot.
Also check out the Releases system, which supports various P2P links and torrents. There are guides in the forums for new visitors, or come chat with us live on irc.isohunt.com, #isoHunt, on P2P-NET."
I have to agree with everyone so far mate - one seeder is going to be terribly slow - and to be honest, I don't think it's anything to do with your network setup. Here is a tip for you - most bittorrent files are best to download in the early hours of the morning - up until about 12 noon (ish) our time. Most seeders are in the US, and so by using your Bittorrent client in the early hours, you might find files downloading far quicker. I use uTorrent - one of the best clients out there - give that a try - you might get better results.
