Both ideas are great. With the disco theme a tighter compilation wil probably emerge, but Uganda recently released his discobootism album.
About a Colours theme , what about White Noise/White Heat by the Velvet Underground. Will be a punkmash

I would also like to see an ET/UFO/SF/Alien theme one day. (Or a B-Movie theme, we can get cheesy then)
